Five Stage Advice Process
Discovery Meeting
This is a short initial meeting where TSL will describe the advice services available and associated costs. The TSL adviser will seek to gain a general understanding of your requirements, and it is an opportunity for you to ask any questions about the company and your adviser(s).
Exploratory Meeting
The purpose of this meeting is to gather detailed information on your personal circumstances, existing arrangements, financial objectives and aspirations. Some generic solutions might be outlined during the meeting.
Strategy Report
A strategy report will be issued before being discussed at a meeting or on the phone. The report will focus on achieving your stated objectives; it will highlight any weaknesses in your current financial arrangements, identify a range of solutions and focus on strategy and risk management. The report will contain generic solutions. Specific products and companies will not form part of this report.
Implementation Report
Once the strategy has been agreed, an implementation report will be prepared. This will detail any products required to meet your objectives, with charges and commissions specifi ed. Completion, processing and tracking of any resulting applications will be included in the cost.

What does Thomson Shepherd Ltd do?
TSL have a clear charging structure, which will fully explained to you by your Financial Planner.
Where commissions become available as a result of TSL being asked to arrange a product on your behalf, that commission will be available to you in one of three ways:
- To reduce the advice cost.
- To reduce product charges or costs.
- To increase the investment amount
It is your commission and it is therefore your choice.
If you seek advice from TSL, you will no doubt already have a number of financial products in place. By transferring these to our 'agency' any commission that is currently being paid to a previous advisory firm may be payable to TSL. We will disclose this to you and deduct this from your fee.
Please contact us if you would like further guidance.
